SEVEN TOP DÉCOR TYPES

SEVEN TOP DÉCOR TYPES

When it comes to decorating the abode, there are lots of concepts out there, and for someone who doesn’t understand it all, it can get quite confusing. Even though most people like to combine several designs from different schools of thought, it is also good to know what each type works with so that it can be easier to find their personal styles. Here is a list of various décor styles and what they are all about.

  1. Mid- Century Modern- This style incorporates refined lines, minimalist silhouettes and natural shapes. It also finds creative ways to bring in materials such as precast plastic, plywood and aluminum. Because it sort of goes back to the mid-nineteen hundreds, it also has a retro feel.
  2. Modern- Living spaces with this design have smooth, crisp lines with modestcolors and the use of materials like metal and glass. These looks are typically sleek and do away with any form of clutter.
  3. Transitional-Folks favor this décor styledue to the fact that it takes in bits and inspiration from both old-style and modern designs. It helps create a balance between the feeling of a sleek modern space and a warm one, thus making the home look stylish and welcoming at the same time.
  4. Contemporary- Most folks confuse this look with the modern one, and even though they have some things that are similar, contemporary is a style on its own. It is characterized by open spaces, use of natural light, textured and natural fabric. Additionally, it is more fluid and can bring in different aspects that do not really stick to one look.
  5. Minimalist-This décor style goes for more functional items, and the notion that “less is more”. On top of that, minimalism keeps things extremely simple, while still making the abode feel warm.
  6. Scandinavian- With a goal towards a more simple and functional look, Scandinavian design is identified by its use of organic materials, less accessories and simple color pallets. Additionally, it makes as most use of natural lighting as is possible.
  7. Industrial- This style is all about the use of raw and exposed materials. There are metal fixtures, high ceilings, old timber, hanging light fixtures with little functional furniture. Homes with such a look are usually made from renovated lofts or former industrial buildings.
